Answers

  1. What is the difference between PIN based and Signature based transactions?

    A PIN based transaction occurs when you have to enter your 4-digit PIN when you purchase an item. The money typically withdraws from your account the same day. A Signature-based transaction occurs when you have to sign a receipt or sometimes don’t sign a receipt. Signature-based transactions take 1-3 business days to subtract from your account. Both require sufficient funds at time of purchase in order to work.
     
  2. Why does my picture need to be on the Debit/ATM Card?
     
    Your picture adds security and safety to your Debit/ATM Card. This is another piece of information that can verify you in order to combat identity theft and fraud.
     
  3. How much can I spend with my debit card in one day?
     
    Debit Card purchases cannot exceed $1,000 in a 24-hour period. Limits are designed to protect you and to help eliminate debit card fraud.
     
  4. What do I do if I lost or forgot my PIN?

    If you have lost or forgot your PIN, you will need to go to the nearest branch and complete a request for PIN reissue. While this may be an inconvenience to you, it is for your protection. Your PIN will be mailed to the address we have for your account. Only the cardholder can request the PIN. No one at the bank knows your PIN.
       
  5. What do I do if I get a message saying my card has been locked out?
     
    This means you have attempted to access your account three with the wrong PIN. Again, this is a security feature. Don’t panic. If this occurs at a branch ATM during office hours, simply go inside and someone will be able to assist you. If this occurs after hours or at another ATM, you will need to contact Card Services directly for assistance. Call (800) 988-8516.
     
  6. What if my card is stolen or lost?
     
    If your Debit/ATM Card is stolen or lost, or that a transaction was made without your permission, you must notify us immediately. There are a couple of ways to notify Card Services:
    1. Call (800) 325-3678 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
    2. Call or visit your local branch during business hours
       
  7. Why can’t I use a signature-based transaction at some merchants?
     
    A recent court settlement with VISA® and MasterCard allows merchants to choose whether to accept Debit MasterCard as a signature-based transaction or not. Be sure to ask the merchant before hand to avoid any inconvenience.
     
  8. Can I change my Personal Identification Number (PIN)?
     
    Not at this time. Your PIN is computer generated and therefore no one at the bank knows your number. Don’t write your PIN down because someone might be able to steal it and your card.
      
  9. What do I do if my VISA® credit card has been lost or stolen?
     
    If you believe your VISA® has been stolen or lost, or that a transaction was made without your permission, you must notify us immediately.
