MANY, LA – Peoples State Bank sends congratulations to Board of Director John Curtis, Sr. Mr. Curtis will be honored at a reception on Tuesday, December 6th.
The Town of Many will host the “It’s All About You, John Curtis” reception at Many City Hall from 4-6 p.m. The event is open to the public.
Mr. Curtis, who has owned and operated Big Star grocery stores in Many, Mansfield, Zwolle and Toledo Bend, recently sold the businesses to Market Basket and is retiring.

Pete Abington, Chairman of Peoples State Bank Board of Directors said it best, “John has been a community leader and strong supporter of the youth in Sabine Parish for many years. Many kids started their business careers at Big Star.”
Making comments at the reception will be Linda Curtis-Sparks, director of the Sabine Parish Tourist Commission, Pete Abington, chairman of the Board of Directors of Peoples State Bank, and Danny McCormick, all of Many. A special presentation and proclamation will be made by Many Mayor Ken Freeman.
In asking Curtis for permission to recognize him for his service to the parish, Mayor Freeman said, “He was reluctant and uncomfortable with the attention. However, I reminded him that he had been so good to so many, that we could not just let him ride off into the sunset.”
